Product Description
"Please God, if you're listening, keep Rachel safe." She couldn't turn her back on her family in their time of need. So when her sister was injured, financial expert Andrea Hampton traded the big city for Amish country to help turn her grandmother's house into an inn. But life with the Plain People took a treacherous turn when a string of accidents and pranks threatened her family. Someone didn't want the secrets the old house harbored to come to light. Trusting anyone-even the handsome carpenter who seemed so genuine-was a battle for Andrea, but her life depended on her ability to find the truth.

Plot is poorly thought out July 30, 2010 K. Iverson In the first chapter -
Boy has chip on shoulder against girl because she take a leave from her job to help her sister open an inn. That's what family is supposed to do, right? Help family at the very real expense of being out of a job yourself?
As the book progresses -
Girl's sister becomes horribly injured. Boy still has chip on shoulder because girl stays in contact with present job working remotely as she tries to help out getting some of inn set up. Boy thinks girl should leave job because he had walked away from his former job.
As the book continues -
Discover that in boys former life, he took on a client that had done bad stuff. How this type of bad stuff could have even possibly come to boy's attention without police / social worker intervention is beyond me, but the author seems to think possible.
Insertion of faith into the book is awkward. Book is free and I completed it to see how bad it could get. It truly is bad, and thank goodness it was free.
Lots of fun! July 30, 2010 campingcorgi I really enjoyed this book, and not just because it was free on the Kindle! Interesting characters, new things to learn, a bit of a mystery....what's not to like? I hope to enjoy more by this author.
Excellent reading July 26, 2010 M. Wriggle I read this book in 2 days. I couldn't believe it was a free book because it was so good!!
Heavy-handed. July 20, 2010 C. Parker The book wasn't bad for a freebie, but it certainly was no blockbuster. I would be very disappointed if I had paid for it. The resolution of the mystery was simple, I think that most readers would figure it out before the half-way point.
While I realize that this is a Christian romance novel, I think that that aspect was heavy-handed. The story really beat you over the head with the main character's lapse in faith. Most people don't spend that much time thinking "I would pray if could remember how". I think that this seemed unrealistic. I understand doubt and lapse, as well as the return to faith. I just think that in reality, it is more subtle than that. Andrea's experience seems almost cartoonish, and definitely unrealistic.
Hide in Plain Sight July 17, 2010 This is like a made for TV movie. Thin plot. Not very compelling writing. Not very interesting characters. Classic "scary" scenes that make your eyes roll. All infused with heavy religious overtones. Good thing this was free.
