| Synopsis:
Newly engaged, Ben Murphy (John Krasinski) and Sadie Jones (Mandy Moore) can't wait to start their life together and live happily ever after. The problem is that Sadie's family church, St. Augustine's, is run by Reverend Frank (Robin Williams), who won't bless Ben and Sadie's union until they pass his patented, "foolproof" marriage-prep course. Consisting of outrageous classes, outlandish homework assignments and some outright invasion of privacy, Reverend Frank's rigorous curriculum puts Ben and Sadie's relationship to the test. Forget happily ever after--do they even have what it takes to make it to the altar? |

A light, fun, silly, insightful movie July 31, 2010 JanetB53 (Perkasie, PA United States) Watch it with your friends after your engagement, or with the girls at the bridal shower. Its a little silly , but I laughed out loud and found it insightful as well.
What a Waste of Time May 20, 2010 Dottie A. Randazzo (Delaware, USA) I love Robin Williams, but not in this movie. He wasn't funny and neither was the movie. I think the writers were trying but they seemed to have missed the mark. It wasn't even like it was over the top funny. Just a flat movie. Don't waste your time.
hillarious May 10, 2010 David A. Smith (Webberville, Mi, USA) this movie is hillarious it'll keep you laughing from start to finish this is a great movie
license to wed April 26, 2010 Margaret A. Swick (west virgina) this movie was so funny i laughed and cried at the same time i think everyone should own this movie
Please Give This Movie a Chance! April 17, 2010 JNIX (Pennsylvania, USA) Wow...I was surprised to see how many bad ratings this movie got! I've watched it three times and laugh every time. While I wouldn't go so far as to say it's a favorite, I really enjoyed it. The three main characters are played by Mandy Moore (not a huge fan of hers), Robin Williams (ehhh..he's pretty funny), and Jon Krasinski (LOVE him!). The was actually the first time I ever saw John Krasinski and I fell in love with him in this movie! (It was after I watched this that I proceeded to watch every season of The Office <3) His personality is great...very funny and likeable and I, personally, think he's cute to top it off. lol He definitely - for me - makes the movie. One of my favorite scenes is probably when he's in the department store trying to take care of the two mechanical babies and he starts beating one off the counter until it's head pops off. Pretty much any scene with him and the babies is hilarious. His facial expressions are awesome too throughout the movie. But enough gushing about him...the movie itself (overlooking all the goofy parts) does have a good point to it: preparing for marriage, making sure you communicate in a relationship, working through issues, compromise, etc. Pretty much the only thing I didn't like about this movie was A) Mandy Moore's character and B) the part where they reconcile near the end. Not that I didn't want them to reconcile, but it's kinda cheesy. Anyways, so yeah...my plea is "Don't listen to the many bad reviews and give this movie a shot. It just might surprise you!"
