5 out of 5 stars Pop goes the Weasel   July 24, 2010
Van Halen Kurtz (Twin Oaks)
Reitman and Schwarzenegger go for broke and conjure a masterpiece. Without DeVito to assist, Schwarzenegger more than holds his own in a quintessential date film, the female fantasy of discovering the inner nurturer within the stud. The thriller elements, bang bang, are upped a bit from Twins, making for even more satisfying contrast ~ perhaps to better appease the male end of the date. There's great chemistry going on between Schwarzenegger and the children, the latter who probably deserve more credit than evidenced by the rolling credits. Reitman gives the film strong symbolism and symmetry ~ for instance, the two times Schwarzenegger, gun in hand, rushes through a door to find hanky-panky instead of evil ~ and tells a good tale through the shifting kaleidoscope of action, comedy and romance. Astoria OR looks truly lovely, too. At the risk of slighting the whole supporting cast, here's where Schwarzenegger proved his star power. Just listen to him read from A.A. Milne ~ unbelievable. No doubt Schwarzenegger's most charming performance. Inspired movie-making.

After seeing this movie several times on TV I knew I had to own this one. It is a wonderful movie. Lots of action, a love story and funny. It has it all!!!

4 out of 5 stars Cracks me up every time I watch...   April 12, 2010

This is a movie that I once had on VHS and finally got the DVD since my VCR died and that I have watched too many times to count. The movie, while not Oscar-worthy, is a great comedy with adorable children and enough action for the Arnold Schwarzenegger fan. Everytime I watch the movie, I laugh at the same parts like I have never seen it before.

4 out of 5 stars How about a 20th anniversary edition?   January 15, 2010

"Kindergarten Cop" needs a 20th anniversary edition this year, complete with interviews with the kids so we can see them now and how they've turned out. This edition stinks. It's a shame. My wife was a kindergarten teacher for 13 years and says this movie gets it right more than any other movie. A crisp, widescreen edition would be nice, too!
